This might seem funny to the guys who have been following the project but we are now at a point of starting the clearance of the area that will become the first part of our forest farm. Looking through this site you will see many photos of us clearing ground, building sheds and planting plants! So far that has meant lots of Blueberries and some cut flowers but little resembling the forest garden.
The above is area is being cleared at the moment. Once cleared we will be planting several fruit trees along with a selection of plants:
Black, red and white currants
Bay, Rosemary and Sage
Flowering Quinces – Chaenomeles spp
Babington’s Leek (perennial Leek)
Anise Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum)
Perennial Broccoli, Callards and Kale
Turkish Rocket (Bunias Orientalis)
Good King Henry (Spinach plant)
French Scorzonera (tastes like cucumber)
Bird’s Foot Trefail (Nitrogen fixer)
Perennial Sweet Peas
Kiwis (Actinidia arguta, A. deliciosa and A. kolomikta)
A nice list and I am looking forward to planting them out throughout the Autumn and Winter months.
